OWNER/CONSULTANT: Christchurch City Council / City Care

ADDRESS:  Sutherlands 1 Reservoir Christchurch

PRODUCTS:  Aquagard M Primer, Endurathane 6000 Polyurea, Ultraure A-80 Topcoat

CONTRACTOR:  NZ Spray Linings[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”3218″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” title=”Waterproofing concrete water tank roof”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Water is pumped around the Christchurch city fringe and stored in water tanks for supply to the outer suburbs.  Because Christchurch City water is not chlorinate, dall contaminants must be kept out of the water storage tanks. The tank roof no longer provided a complete seal and could allow contaminants to enter the reservoir tank.

The segmented concrete tank roof joints were not repairable.  City Care requested a monolithic seamless membrane be installed to keep out contaminants.

The 44 roof joints were addressed and a polyurea spray lining applied over the concrete roof followed by a decorative top coat.

The project was carried out in August/September 2015 and managed around snow and strong winds.  The project was completed September 2015.

This project was undertaken and completed by NZ Spraylinings.

The tank is heated to prevent the build-up of waxes on the tank walls that could cause the floating lid to seize up.

The tank was stripped of its original thermal insulation and inspected for corrosion under insulation (CUI). It was then cleaned and abrasive blasted and Jotun Tankguard Storage was applied. Endurathane SR52 polyisocyanurate foam was spray applied . Finally the foam insulation was sealed and protected with Enduracryl PUR coating.

Jotun Tankguard Storage was recommended as the coating under insulation to prevent CUI.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”463″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Completion date: March 2012[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
